Look after your health

We all know that it is too easy to take good health for granted.  Taking care of our bodies is the foundation to looking lovely.  If you feel your best you will be able to look your best.

We don't normally say anything about diet on Look Lovely, as neither of us has any professional knowledge.  However, we both try to eat sensibly.  This means trying to choose a balanced diet and the right amount of calories to maintain a healthy body weight.

If you are trying to eat a healthy amount, but find that you regularly consume too much food, here is a thought about self control that may help: understand that you have little self control.

I've heard many people say they have no self control when it comes to food.  This seems to give them permission to eat everything available, such as a whole box of chocolates in one sitting.  However, if you say to yourself "I have little self control" then you are recognising that you will need to try very hard to eat healthy quantities.

Thinking of a New Year Detox?

These are not our tips, and we have not tried them.  There were sent to us by Green People.

Synthetic chemicals are everywhere – in the air, in your food, in your home. Nearly every cell in your body has the ability to break down toxins but the liver is the organ which specialises in this.

A detox programme helps to cleanse your body of accumulated toxins and your liver to work more effectively. If it is your first time, 2-3 days will make a big difference.

There are lots of detox diet programmes out there so you have plenty of choice to find one that suits you. Whichever you choose, here are some tips that will help your detox go smoothly and successfully.

Before your detox:

• The week before you start your detox, cut out processed foods, caffeine, sugar, bread, meat, alcohol and tobacco.

• Drink lots of fresh water and eat plenty of brown rice and organic fruit and vegetables.

While detoxing:

• Edible clay traps toxins and carries them out the body. Buy food-grade clay such as Montmorillonite and Bentonite, and drink plenty of water.

• Milk thistle offers excellent support for your liver, while ginger helps support the digestive system.

• Take
Wild Seaweed capsules for essential mineral, vitamins and trace elements, and their cleansing and diuretic properties. (Buy 1 get 1 free at Green People while stocks last)

After your detox

• Don’t return to your list of naughty foods until your detox has been over for a few days and only reintroduce slowly.

• Support your system with a gentle daily detox drink like Hawthorn &  Artichoke Formula (save £10 when you buy 2 at Green People while stocks last)
